The legacy media have largely avoided reporting on Friday’s ICE-Surrection at a New Jersey detention facility. On this Sunday’s CNN State of the Union, however, we see what clearly looks to be favorable coverage that sidesteps the violent nature of what happened there.

But the election of a new American Pope on Thursday has at least some at the network hoping that Leo XIV will be able to get through to Trump in ways that others could not because — wait for it! — he speaks English.

After Cardinal Robert Prevost became the first American ever to be elected Pope on Tuesday and took the name Leo XIV, MSNBC’s Katy Tur picked and chose what aspects of his beliefs to amplify and which ones to downplay or ignore. Naturally, for MSNBC, she highlighted his “rebuking” of conservatives and Republicans, but not of liberals and Democrats.

The legacy media appear to be stuck in this doom loop where they deliberately omit covering certain stories after embarrassing themselves fawning over the latest immigration poster boy du jour whether it’s “Maryland Dad” or pro-Hamas Columbia activist Mohsen Mahdawi.
